The Wild Horses of Damonte Ranch

The Stallion Ghost

Welcome to the home of the Wild Horses of Damonte Ranch in the Virginia Foothills range.

Many of the good people of Damonte Ranch are concerned for the well being, safety, and preservation of one of America’s treasures and a true gift to our community. The wild horse population, adjacent to Damonte Ranch in the Virginia Foothills to the east of Reno, deserves to be protected. As we continue to build homes and roads where farm and ranch land used to stand, we must remember that these animals need our help to protect them from this encroachment upon their long-established grazing paths.

Your help is requested to ensure that these beautiful, graceful creatures are kept safe from our streets and neighborhoods. We need help with fences, gates, and cattle crossings. We especially need help with neighborhood patrols and people willing to call in when they spot horses grazing along the street. Volunteers who wouldn’t mind passing out flyers around our neighborhoods and those who are interested in advocating for the horses are also needed.

Check out the NEWS page for interesting information about what's going on in the area and the INFORMATION page to find out more about the various projects we have in the works.
